26-year-old Emmalyn Sullivan from New York, launched an Instagram page called "covid19_messengers" to help people in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Essentially it’s a messenger service to help bring groceries, medicines, anything someone needs,” said Sullivan.
Receivers can contact Emmalyn directly through the Instagram page or through their website.
“A lot of them talk to each other through the [page], they’ll find someone based in our highlights. You hit the highlight and find the state you're in and [find] people around you,” added Sullivan.
Adrian Legra found the opportunity to lend a hand by scrolling through Instagram
"I've [delivered] food lately. I can [deliver] anything up to 25 pounds. It's something that I like doing and would like to help everybody," said Miami "Messenger" Adrian Legra.
Emmalyn launched the page last Saturday and already has over 3,000 followers, with "messengers" signing up from around the world.
"When people are healthy and when this dies down, I'd like to still help people who can't leave their homes, like the elderly," added Sullivan.
The "messengers" are expected to be fully cognizant of health and safety concerns, like constantly washing their hands and wiping down all deliveries with disinfecting wipes. If you need help or want to help, visit covid19messengers.com
