For many Americans, the past few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster. Learning to adjust during this COVID-19 pandemic can take affect your mental health.

Many people turn to religion to help manage the pressure, but between the quarantine and social distancing, “how” they worship has also changed.

Ministers across South Florida are stepping up to put your faith first during this difficult time.

As uncertainty spreads over the nation in response to the COVID-19 crisis, South Florida churches are finding ways to shine a light virtually.

Since federal and state authorities restricted mass gatherings in March, churches have had to get creative.

Pastor Joanem Floreal at Shalom Community Church, thanks God for social media.

“We stay connected. We have a live service on Facebook, we stream live on YouTube, and we stay connected through a conference line. Even though other people cannot go to the church, the church goes to the people,” said Pastor Floreal

Christlie Napoleon has been attending Shalom Community Church for 13 years.

She says she misses going to church, but social distancing hasn’t stopped her from praying and attending service virtually.

“During this time, we’re watching it via Facebook because it’s the easiest way to go live. Throughout the week there’s other programming that’s happening so everybody can stay connected and stay in prayer and still search for that spiritual faith,” said Christlie.

Some churches in South Florida reopened, while many stay closed. Shalom Community Church and pastor Floreal decided to go with online streaming services until further notice.

“The fact that I have hundreds of people watching me and I have thousands of people who will be viewing that video, I preach with the same passion, I preach with the same energy that I usually preach with 300 to 400 people,” said Pastor Floreal
